Is Jesus the Same as God?

The Holy Quran says, "...Nothing whatsoever (is there) like the like of Him, and He (alone) is All-Hearing and All-Seeing" (Ch 42: Vr 11). Nothing at all is like God, not Moses, not Jesus, not Muhammad, and certainly nothing of His creation.

What about all these verses?

After I discuss the above with my Christian brothers they ask me, "but what about the other verses that say Jesus is God?" and they show me some of them. Some of these verses are:

John 8:58 "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." My Christian brothers associate this verse to the words God had said to Moses in the Old Testament when He said to him in Exodus 3:14 "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." What Jesus said is similar to what God said to Moses. Therefore they are the same.

Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Here Jesus gives himself a divine quality, being present as God.

Revelation 1:17-18 "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." Jesus says that he is the first and the last. This is clearly a divine quality. He also says that he has the keys of hell and of death. This is also a divine quality.

I really don’t know how many more verses like these are available, but let us assume that there are more. I reply to them that what they showed me proves my point even further, and before I explain how, I relate the following verse to them:

Mark 13:32 "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." It is shown here that God and only God and not the son (Jesus) has the knowledge of the time of the Judgment day. Jesus here denies his divinity (since God knows everything).

John 5:19 "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." Here Jesus also says that his powers do not belong to him, and he alone, without the help of God, can do nothing. Again Jesus is denying divine qualities.

John 5:30 "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." Here Jesus also denies any divine qualities. He (Jesus), without God can do nothing.

John 20:17 "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." Also, in Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Here Jesus, in the first verse, says that he has a God, and in the second he cries out for his God. Surely God does not have a god. Jesus clearly shows that he has a God and that he is not divine.

John 5:37 "And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape." Jesus clearly states that no one had even heard God’s voice, and not even seen His shape. This is Jesus talking, his voice heard, and his shape seen by those he is with at the moment, so it cannot be him that he is referring to as the divine character, and that means that they (Jesus and God) are not the same.

John 14:28 "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I." Here Jesus also says that God is greater than Jesus. Again he is disclaiming divinity.

Matthew 19:17 "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." When a man referred to Jesus by good master, Jesus replied to him by saying that there is only one good that is God. If Jesus cannot even claim that he is good, then why should he claim that he is God?

These are all verses from the Bible. Some show Christ to be God or having some qualities of God and others show that he is not God and that he does not have divine qualities. Which should we believe? Aren’t these contradictions? I say to all my Christian brothers that brought me verses that claim Christ’s divinity, "now you have to explain to me how this is possible. What does all this mean?"

Is Jesus the Same as God?
yes jesus is god in the flesh, 100% human, 100% God

it is very hard to explain from that question. please email me a little more detailed question

Reply:John 8:58 this means in essence He said , 'before Abraham was brought into being , i was eternally existent';He also said 'Abraham was' 'I am'

Exodus3:14 translated the Name,' I WAS,I am , and I always continue to be.' I am whatever you need!'

Mathhew 18:20 means the requirement is to meet in His Name;doing such by even two or three ,in the Eyes of God, constitute a 'Church'

Revelation 1:17-18 Jesus says ''I am the First and the Last '' meaning : He alone is God.

Verse 18 goes on: I am He Who lives (meaning , will never die again and had life in Himself;the Fountain and Source of Life to others;the One Who has immortality) , and was dead (represents the Living One entering into death, into our death,in His human nature so that as the great High Priest He might finish the Sacrifice for sins, which He did) ;and befold, I am alive for evermore,Amen (He will never die again, and death is totally defeated)

Mark 13:32 means , the Son of Man under the self-imposed limitations of the Incarnation, says that even He Himself did not AT THAT TIME know the hour of the Second Coming. and of the time of the fulfillment of those other things grouped around that event;without a doubt,He knows NOW;and I'm sure the Angels now know as well;but then they didn't.

John 5:19 means: He proclaims the humanity of Christ, with Him freely giving up the expression of His Deity while never losing its possession. He proclaims His total subservience to the Father, which as a Man He was to do and DID do. He was setting an example of humility and dependence which the human family seriously lacked.

John 20:17 means : He was saying 'Do not hold onto Me,do not try to detain me'...it goes on as such : He,Who is the Father of Christ and Father of men,is so in differnet ways. He is the Father of Christ by nature.and of man by Grace' [forty days later .He would ascend] the verse goes on meaning : Christ speaks not of those who were his half-brothers in the flesh, but rather His Chosen Disciples, minus Judas who was now dead.

The end of the verse should be interpreted as so: this statement as given by Christ, portrays a great relationship between the Believer and the Heavenly Father;actually, the very purpose of Calvary and the Resurrection was to establish this relationship through Redemption, which it did!

My hands are getting tired now ,lol, but I'll explain one more ( I can explaing the rest later)

Matthew 27:46 means: The question as to why God had forsaken Him was not asked in a sense of not knowing, but in a sense of ACKNOWLEDGING the act.God didn't deliver Him,even as He always had, because ,to have done such, would have forfeited Redemption for mankind.Incidentally,Jesus spoke in Aramic, which was commonly used by the Lord
Reply:yes
Reply:ok i really didnt read all of that because i dont have time.... but the answer is YES! Jesus IS God! God is three how would you say ummm people?? in one He is The Father The Son (Jesus) and The Holy Spirit. He is the Father in Heaven, The Son physically on the Earth and The Holy Spirit, as a spirit! :)
Reply:God is perfect and cannot be crucified.
Reply:I can answer this question quite easily. God has never left mankind without guidance as he promises in the Bible and all the Holy Books. Every 500 to 1,000 years a messenger of God appears on earth such as Adam, Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Jesus and Mohammad. They are like a brilliant Holy Light that appears in a darkened world from age to age to teach mankind. They are perfect mirrors of God and reflect God's attributes. How else would we know God if not for these messengers? Their Holy Book is the perfect reflection of the Will of the one and only God.
Reply:I was just about to answer your next question and it was removed. So i just wanted to let you know brother that i thought you made a wonderful point in the differences with women in Torah, Old testament and Quran. Shame it was removed. It was a really good point. Insha Allah you will post a new similar one that wont be removed.
Reply:If Jesus is the same as God, then wouldn't Jesus be a demi-god? Demi-gods can die, they just have extraordinaily powers similar to God.
Reply:Is Jesus the same as God?

No.

Allah is God.. the merciful
Reply:episcapols believe so but depends on what you believe or wether if he is or not is important or not. I think it is important that he was but not everyone is gonna come to that same conclusion
Reply:How many gods does God say there are? Scriptures that show there is only one God and it is written,

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me." Isa 46:9

God is not shy to say "I am God" and if Jesus is God, then how come Jesus never said it once like the God of the Old Testament?

Jesus is never recorded in the Bible as saying the exact words, “I am God.”
Reply:Jesus and God are one! The Bible clearly speaks of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit...and also clearly presents that there is only one God.God the Son (Jesus) is fully, completely God. God the Father is fully, completely God. And God the Holy Spirit is fully, completely God. Yet there is only one God.

"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!" (Deut. 6:4)

"I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God." (Isa. 45:5)

There is no God but one. (1Cor. 8:4)
Reply:DON'T BOTHER.

Most people are to blind to see the truth.

Jesus is not God. It is very clear in the bible.

The true God is Jehovah, The God of Abraham.

Jesus is just a creation of God.
Reply:The best way I can answer this may appear to be quite odd however; look beyond the literal meaning on it.

Think of (imagine) God as being an ocean. Now imagine a drop of water from the ocean.

Now; imagine that drop of water as representing an individual (Jesus, Moses, each person) no matter who it is.

If you where to take (lets say) 10 individual drops of water from the ocean and look under a microscope or ran some kind of test you would get different results. Such as; the contents in each drop of water. Be it levels of microscopic organisms, levels of pollution etc. Right?

However; the overall jest of it is that each drop of water is still water (ocean) correct?

Now pull this together and seeing God as an ocean and each one of us are the individual drops of water.

What I am saying is that the individual drops may have different levels of contents (represent) each of our own individual personalities however; we are all as God.

Jesus is one with God as all of us however; Jesus is like a drop of water as we all our.
Reply:Here is the answer to your question. Notice in verse 7 how it mentions Him emptying Himself. Being God, He took on human limitations. He suspended them. Surely God has the power to do this if He so chooses. It's hard to grasp.

Philippians 2

6

Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.

7

Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance,
Reply:jesus is the son of god. he put him on earth so that he can work through him, so i guess you could say yes they are oone in the same.
Reply:Jesus is just a prophet, and so is moses and Muhammad. No one is god but the one true god himself. The explanation of how come it always says he is god in the bible? Well..the bible has been written down by people and has been translated, etc. It has undergone some changes, and so maybe this is just what the writers thought, but not the holy word.

Cheers!

:)
Reply:Are Muslims Infidels?

Muslims profess to be believes of the prophets Moses, Jesus, and Mohamed but they do not, they reject them.

They deny Jesus father Allah and his power (Allah IS used in the scriptures). They say its not possible for God to have a Son yet Mohamed the messenger decreed, "If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is (Qur’an 3:47).

The Quran like the Bible says Jesus has no human father that is why he came from GOD.

She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is (Qur’an 3:47).

Muslims will say Jesus is not Allah!

This is correct. Jesus is not his father.

John 28:14 - If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

Qur'an says Adam and Jesus were perfect like God, and the image of God, (until Adam sinned) yet they reject the teachings of Mohammed.

Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is. (Qur’an 3:59).

When Jesus died he did not go back to the dust like the sinful Adam, no he returned to his father.

Sura Aali-Imran 3:55 (Pickthall) (And remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! Lo! I am gathering Thee and causing Thee to ascend unto Me…….

Jesus body was not buried to decay and become dust, but instead was raised straight into God’s presence in heaven.

Jins know he was God's Son -

luke 4:41 Demons also came out of many, shouting, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah.*

Humans knew he was Gods Son -

matthew 14:33 And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’

Jesus knew he was God's Son -

john 11:44 But when Jesus heard it, he said, ‘This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God’s glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.’

Muslims wish to make Mohammed a major prophet because they want a Arab prophet. But he is a very minor one. With out the message he would be a normal human. Moses was able to perform great works and Jesus was able to bring back the dead.

Only Jesus had no human father, was perfect like his Heavenly father and was able to bring back the dead.
Reply:Jesus is a God. So is his Father a God, the one we worship. They are two separate and distinct beings. They have the same purposes. How could he say his father was greater than he?. because Christ had not yet died and been resurrected and of course because the Father is the one who put forth the whole plan.
Reply:yes
Reply:They are the same in that they don't really exist and they are of no real use.
Reply:Is Jesus the Same as God?

NO.

JESUS IS THE GOD!

The Unholy Quaran is WRONG inmany places!

Such as%26gt;%26gt;

"Not Jesus, but a look alike, was substituted and crucified at the Cross." -4:157

THIS IS BLASPHEMY - AND A LIE! No proof can be offered at all.
