EDIT: although it is important that we master the English Language,still, the ultimate essence of communication is to convey our ideas, grammar and rhetorics are optional and only become required due to globalization. ahehe ^_^

Reply:I also didn't watch the pageant. But I've watched how Janina was downgraded by a barrage of comments by her kababayan, Ms. Ruffa. Comments like that should not be aired on television which shows her true personality.

-I dislike hearing "basically" too much from people. It becomes a filler and is irritating (eg. ah, um).





-Subject and verb agreement mistakes for me is not acceptable. It does not sound right in the first place.





-Some errors in prepositions for me is acceptable as long as its not that obvious and the thought is not lost.





-Basic Filipino grammar mistakes like when to use NG and NANG





What also concerns me is that the Filipino youths are now not good at communication skills. I've observed that a lot are not good in reading, writing and speaking in either Filipino, English or their regional language.

1. Ayy, wrong mistake! - a common expression among Filipino teens (a jocular one) which has been assimilated into Taglish colloquialisms.


2. I'm very iterated - obviously a Malapropism for "I'm very elated."


3. Don't touch me not!- a double negative, of course, or a fusion with "Touch me not."


4. Hello?...For a while, please hang yourself...- hold the line, please...


5. Can you repeat that for the second time around once more from the top? - of course, "repeat" can stand alone there. But even Americans and British English users have superfluity of their "real English" expressions.





I didn't watch that pageant, though.
Reply:Unfortunately, I didn't get to the part where Janina was interviewed or I would have heard what almost everyone is talking about.

**Ruffa's comment is not that rude. she is actually "nice" by the comments she gave. if i were Ruffa i would say more than that. its really sad ...she'll represent our country soon..hope she gets better after 7 months.

1. "I would like a Shiner beer please." - Shiner pronounced as Sheen-ner.


2. "The temp in RP is around one-O-eight to one-O-ten degrees fahrenheit" - 1010? Damn!


3. "Turn left at Josey Lane" - Josey pronounced as Jose with a Y at the end.


4. "My wife was in 1st cheer and I was in 2nd cheer when we met" - Yeah and the new cheer starts on Jan 1.


5. "Brandon didn't know how to drive a stick shift. He started in 3rd ger instead of 1st ger" - Do I still need to explain this?





I'm not saying that my grammar is perfect. But still this is a very good laugh trip when the gang is out drinking beer and he's not around... :P
Reply:Oh my gosh. That was really embarrassing about the Bb. Pilipinas World. I don't even know what happen to the judges. She'll going to be the Ms. World and represent our country. Reminder guys this will be the first time that Philippines will have an interpreter on Ms. World! ugh..
