Anybody know the novel 'Noli me Tangere' by Jose Rizal? From where did he get the title? Thanks for the help=]

Dr. Jose Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines, a poet, a writer, an illustrado , and many more,a very talented man. Sensing his responsibility for his fellowmen that fight using brute force, he decided to fight using the mind, and thus came one of his most significant novels titled 'Noli me Tangere'. I need to learn from where did he get this title, which means 'touch me not'.

It is from the book of St. John (Chap 20:13-17). It was said that on the First Easter Sunday, St Mary Magdalene visited Jesus in the tomb, who had just risen from the dead.

"Touch Me Not, I am not yet ascended to my Father, but to go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God and your God."
Reply:It was explained well by our history teacher. It means that the love of the home country is more than any person."Touch me not" was his title because he does not want the Filipino people to be harrased by the spanish conquerors and they dont want the country to by with the hands of the enemy. He used satire writing that way so the spanish wount notice he was doing a sort of propaganda.
Reply:He got it from a Bible verse, I think. New testament.

I'm not a Filipino, but I read about him.
