What does this verse from the Bible means?

this is another verse shows that Jesus has a God above him, and he is no way is equal to God, and the Trinity is three different beings.





Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John, 20:17





how will you then explain this?

What does this verse from the Bible means?
That just means he was about to ascend up to Heaven.
Reply:The trinity is not a Bible teaching. Jehovah the father is above Jesus. The trinity was made up centuries after Jesus' death. Several other non christian pagan religions have trinity teachings. Sometimes people add to what the Bible teaches to attract followers.

The nature of the Trinity is a mystery, as is the nature of God, and Jesus, and the Spirit, in many senses.





Three, and yet...One. One, but with three entities. Identities? Personas?





There is no analogy that can really amplify upon this enigma.





It is another aspect of God's nature, which is out of the realm of human understanding (because He's God and we aren't!), which you either accept, or beat yourself silly trying to understand.





I personally have always liked the mysterious aspects of God's nature. Just another example of how He is so not like me (thank goodness!) that sometimes I can't wrap my little brain around it.





And I am ok with that. I don't need to know it all! :-)

Reply:I think you must be reading something different than I just read. There is nothing in this scripture that says Jesus said He was either equal or not equal to the Father. It simply says that He had not yet ascended unto His Father.
Reply:It means that God is Supreme.
Reply:I explain this as a scribe translating a script. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of scribes that had to translate original documents of the Bible. It means that man has had his hand in it too long to meet the meaning of God. Live right by what your conscience tells you. That is God talking. Be a good person. The Bible is what the conference of people that determined what to put in the Bible want you to think.

The Old Testament tells us about the BRANCH that is coming from God. This Branch is Jesus.





John 20:17 is Jesus as man apart from or being emptied of God in full force. The only way to see God is to see Jesus.





Revelation tells us that Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world, which means Jesus was with God in the beginning.


The Holy Spirit was hovering over the waters so He was also at Creation with God the Father. The Bible tells us that God the Father is Spirit and a consuming fire. Man can't survive around a consuming fire so we need God the Son to communicate with us. We can hear God the Father because Peter, John and James heard God the Father when He said, "This is my beloved Son listen to Him."

Did Jesus ascend to Paradise the same day of the crucifixion?


(a) Yes. He said to the thief who defended him, "Today you will be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43).


(b) No. He said to Mary Magdelene two days later, "I have not yet ascended to the Father" (John 20:17).
Reply:Jesus (GOD the Son) was sent by God the Father (our heavenly father) to earth as a humble servant. Jesus was both true man and True God at the same time in one divine person). In JOhn 20:17 he hadn't acsended with his new glorified eternal body. God bless.

Jesus is God’s Son in that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). But that does not mean Jesus did not exist before He was conceived. Jesus always has existed (John 8:58; 10:30). When Jesus was conceived, He became a human being in addition to being God (John 1:1,14).





Jesus is both God and man. Jesus has always been God, but He did not become a human being until He was conceived in Mary. Jesus became a human being so that He could identify with us in our struggles (Hebrews 2:17) and, more importantly, so that He could die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins (Philippians 2:5-11). In summary, the hypostatic union teaches that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine, that there is no mixture or dilution of either nature, and that He is one united Person, forever.

Reply:Some older translations of the Bible give the impression that Jesus told Mary Magdalene not to touch him. For instance, the King James Version renders Jesus’ words: “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father.” (John 20:17) However, the original Greek verb, which is usually translated “touch,” means also “to cling to, hang on by, lay hold of, grasp, handle.” Reasonably, Jesus was not objecting to Mary Magdalene’s merely touching him, since he allowed other women who were at the grave to ‘catch him by his feet.’—Matthew 28:9.





Many modern-language translations, such as the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, The New Jerusalem Bible, and The New English Bible, help us to understand the real meaning of Jesus’ words by rendering them: “Stop clinging to me.” Why would Jesus say that to Mary Magdalene, who was a close associate?—Luke 8:1-3.





Evidently, Mary Magdalene feared that Jesus was about to leave and ascend into heaven. Moved by her strong desire to be with her Lord, she was holding fast to Jesus, not letting him go. To assure her that he was not yet leaving, Jesus instructed Mary to stop clinging to him but instead to go and declare to his disciples the news of his resurrection.—John 20:17.





The exchange between Jesus and Thomas was different. When Jesus appeared to some disciples, Thomas was absent. Later, Thomas voiced his doubts about Jesus’ resurrection, saying that he would not believe it unless he saw Jesus’ nail wounds and put his hand into Jesus’ speared side. Eight days later, Jesus again appeared to the disciples. This time, Thomas was present, and Jesus invited him to touch the wounds.—John 20:24-27.





Thus, in Mary Magdalene’s case, Jesus was dealing with a misplaced desire to prevent him from leaving; in Thomas’ case, Jesus was helping someone who had doubts. In both instances, Jesus had good reasons to act the way he did.
Reply:Jesus is God's Son. The trinity is a doctrine of men and the word trinity does not appear in the Bible. Alot of religions confuse the role of Jesus and they classify him as God Almighty. However, at John 1:18, it tells us that no one has seen God because no one has seen God and lived. Jesus came to earth and people saw him. Also when Jesus prayed, he wasn't talking to himself but his father in heaven which is God Almighty. There is another scripture that alot of churches use to support the trinity and it is the one that quotes Jesus as saying "The father and I are one" That doesn't mean they are one and same person. For example, I know you have heard the saying "Like father Like son" does that mean the father and the son are the same NO It simply means they are the same as far as mannerisms, thoughts, beliefs that are unified in the same belief and that is what Jesus meant when describing the relationship between him and his Father in heaven.

Jesus told them not to touch Him because He needed to go pure unto the Father.Jesus always considered us His brethren(brothers %26amp; sisters in Christ) therefore He said to His and our Father He would ascend. If we are all brothers wouldnt we have only one Father?!





Now the trinity is pretty simple to understand.


In the beginning was God(before Jesus birth).Adam and Eve,Abraham,Moses,Noah,etc,etc, would speak to God as you would speak to your mom or dad face to face.When evil set in.God saw we would need a redeemer or would be condemned to hell.When Jesus came, it was for the sacrifice He would endure to give all of us a chance to be saved.


When Jesus died and RESURRECTED,He went back to Heaven but not before leaving with us the Holy Spirit to comfort and be with us til Jesus return.


Why He had this just goes to show that being split in 3,they were still 1!!!! Isnt He great!

Reply:This is how I've explained the Trinity to friends before. It may not be the best way, but it's the easiest way (I think) for modern -day people to understand it.





Imagine a man named God. - this is God with a distinct personality and list of characteristics and all He is supposed to be.





Now imagine that He has two more facets of His personality that are uniquely different, yet of the same man.





What did I just say?





Imagine a man named God (who is the Father) and now imagine Him being schizophrenic with two other personalities called "Son" (or Jesus) and "Holy Spirit".





Like any other schitzo, He can assume any of these personalities at any time. They are separate entities and have separate abilities, yet they are of the same man.





Maybe that was a tad blasphemous, but it's how I've assimilated it into my schema.
